"Craftsmanship can be a part of cosplay, but it does not NEED to be. Some people do not have the ability or time to make their own costumes and prefer to purchase or have someone else make them. Cosplay is all about having fun and dressing up like our favorite characters. It is awesome if you like to make your cosplays from scratch, but don’t attack those who do not. To me, personally, dressing up is the most exciting part of the costuming experience. I do not have the motor skills needed to sew, and I have more fun putting together outfits and buying beautifully-made pieces from other crafters. I once had someone rag on my costume because I did not hand-sew the socks I had on. That is just silly! As long as I am happy with the way my cosplay looks and makes me feel, it doesn’t matter if I bought my socks at the mall."
